CBSE may reduce syllabus for the new academic session
Apart from announcing the new dates for the JEE Mains and NEET exams, Education Minister also announced that CBSE is working to reduce the syllabus for the new academic session. Due to the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown, the academic session is already delayed. Some schools are conducting online classes for the students but not all schools are able to replicate the process. Due to the loss of instructional time, parents and students were asking about the possibility of reducing the syllabus. The Education Minister, while addressing students during his webinar, said “CBSE will assess the loss of instructional time for the new academic session and will suggest a proportional reduction in curriculum load for exam.” “CBSE will assess the loss of instructional time for a proportionate reduction in curriculum load for Exams. In accordance, Course Committees of the Board has initiated work on the reduced syllabus in various scenarios.” tweeted Ministry of HRD (@HRDMinistry) The minister also said that the new dates for the pending board exams will be announced after the lockdown. He also said that class 10th exams will only be held for the students from North-East Delhi who could not appear for the exams.
