Mizoram state to go ahead with the board exams for class 12th

The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) has decided to resume the class 12th board exams from April 22. However, the board is facing opposition from the students as according to the Center’s guideline all educational institutes are to remain close until May 3. For the remaining subjects, the High School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exams will be held from April 22 to April 24 said the official notification issued by the MBSE said on Friday. The remaining exams will be conducted across all examination centers, the notice said further. The board has asked the students to appear for the exam in the nearest center or at the center of their choice. State education minister Lalchhandama Ralte announced the commencement of the exams and said that the schedule was disturbed because of the nation-wide lockdown due to the coronavirus. He also said that in a meeting on Monday all political parties, NGOs, churches and student bodies suggested that exams should be commenced again. To protest against the exam, students have launched a no-exam campaign on Instagram and other social media accounts as well. Students complained that students who are staying outside the state and are in the villages will face great inconvenience due to the restriction of the movement. Siaha district DCP, Bhupesh Chaudhary write a letter to the controller of examination of the MBSE and said that this is the clear violation of the MHA guidelines. "The notification for re-commencement of HSSLC (Arts, Science and Commerce) examination from April 22 in Siaha is a clear violation of the MHA order and therefore, no exemption can be accorded to the conduction of the class-12 board examinations," Mr. Chaudhary said in the letter.
