No changes in the retirement age of the government employees: Center

The central government has strongly denied the allegations which said that center is considering reducing the retirement age of the government employees to 50 years.  The HRD ministry said that there is no such move to reduce the retirement age. Union Minister of State Personnel Dr. Jitendra Singh categorically denied the 'rumors' by saying that "there are certain motivated elements which have been over the last few days, time and again planting such disinformation in a section of media and attributing it to the government sources or DoP&T". Considering the constraints of the lockdown, he said that DOPT had postponed the last date for filing of the Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) by the government officials. He also said that the dates of IAS/Civil Services interview/personality test along with the Civil Services Preliminary Test will be announced after May 3. Dr. Singh also said that last week there was news of government imposing 30% reduction in the pension and discontinue pensions of elders above 80 years of age. However, as of 31st March, there is not a single pensioner whose pension was not deposited in his account.
