IIT Kharagpur wins the award in the field of cybersecurity education



Recently, IIT-KGP has won the award given by the Data Security Council of India (a body set up in order to protect data by NASSCOM), at the Annual Information Security Summit 2018. The institute was felicitated with the award for its outstanding curriculum and research work in cryptography, hardware security, cyber security, Internet of Things (IoT) security, and network security. According to the reports from PTI, director of IIT-KGP, Professor Partha Pratim Chakraborty, said “Our research and coursework in cyber security, network security and cryptography are targeted towards delivering the necessary technologies and also creating leaders in research, industry, and governance This would bring forward such transformation in India which is undergoing the digital revolution right now as we talk”. At the institute’s department of Computer Science and Engineering, several research ventures led by Professor Debdeep Mukhopadhyay were primarily considered for the award. These ventures are as follows: The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO)- funded projects on developing lightweight protocols for authenticating  IoT nodesIC reverse engineering and the Trojan detection DST-funded 'Swarnajayanti' project on secure authentication protocols for smart grids
