Scholarship For Students With Disabilities announced by the Jammu and Kashmir
On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik announced a scholarship scheme for the students with disabilities. This was done in the honor of International Day of Disabled Persons. An official spokesperson of the government said “under the 'J&K Government Scholarship Scheme for Differently Abled Students', financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh each would be awarded annually to a meritorious specially abled boy and girl student”. The main aim of the scheme is to develop suitable infrastructure, institutions and facilities for the differently abled persons so that they can adjust in the society, the official further added. "We need to provide the best possible facilities for the holistic development of persons with special needs," Mr Malik said as he announced the scheme at a function organized by the department of education. Lauding the performances presented by the differently abled students, the Governor announced a cash reward for the performers and anchors of the program. A special five-day orientation program for the children with special needs in Bangalore and Karnataka and a visit to the Mansar lake for the participants of the function was also announced by the Minister after the function. Mr. Malik also appreciated the school education department for organizing the event and availing the transport facilities for the children. He also stressed the need of donating liberally for the differently abled students so that they can hone their talents.
