Delhi HC demanded a response from the AAP government over Admission norms
The Delhi HC demanded a response from the APP government over the issue of not admitting the students who have not scored a minimum of 55 percent marks in the class 10 exams conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). Justice Siddharth Mridul was of the view that AAP government should not adopt a policy of exclusion in the matters relating to admission in Delhi government schools. The court asked the government for a response as to why these students are not being given admissions in the schools run by it and listed the matter on August 13. The court asked that where these students will go to pursue their education if the government denies them the admission and also raised a question on the upper age limit of 17 years as prescribed by the government of admission in class 11. A plea, regarding the same, was filed by an NGO Social Jurist against the circular issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE) in which it laid down the condition of minimum 55 percent marks in the NIOS class 10 exams. The plea contended that the DoE decision was "arbitrary, irrational, illogical, unconstitutional, violates the petitioners right to education and was against the public interest".
