IIT B to train 30 women Entrepreneur for the Start-Ups
Under the new program launched on Monday, a total of 30 women entrepreneurs will be trained collectively by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment. The ‘Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ (SINE) at IIT-B has entered into a collaboration with the ‘Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment’ (WEE) to launch ‘Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Mentorship Program’. The program will be supported by the Department of Science and Technology and NITI Aayog. Through the program, the institute hoped to train and improve the visibility of the women entrepreneurs in the Indian start-up ecosystem. Poyni Bhatt, CEO of SINE, said: “It is a well-documented fact that the proportion of women entrepreneurs is really low, although there is no specific database to prove that. To address this, we have started the programs, through which we will groom women who have ideas for start-ups.” “In August, we gave a nationwide call for applications. We have women from technology sectors, media as well as the social sector,” said Bhatt. The training will be conducted by the institute between October 7 and December 30 and the best business idea will be chosen by the jury and will receive a prize money of INR 20 lakhs.
