Delhi students to get fewer winter holidays this winter season
On Friday, the Delhi government decided to reduce the number of days in the winter break to make up for the time which was lost due to air pollution and heatwave in the capital earlier this summer. This year’s winter breaks were scheduled to commence from December 28 and continue until January 15, 2019.However, in a circular, the Directorate of Education said that for classes 6 to 12 the winter break will commence from January 1 and will continue until January 15.For the classes nursery to 5 the original schedule will be followed."Winter break for the academic session 2019-20 has been rescheduled for all government schools under Directorate of Education (DoE) to compensate for the loss of study hours that occurred due to the closure of schools in July and November due to the heatwave and deteriorating air quality respectively," it said.
