NIT Jalandhar signs MoU with the University of Florence

With the approval from Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with University of Florence. Various academic meetings were held between Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi and associate professor Dr. Nitai Basak from NIT and Prof. Luigi Dei and Prof. Francesco Ferrin from University of Florance. NIT director said “both the institutions intended to establish an exchange program initially in the fields of Biotechnology and Processes Engineering for Biofuel Production, between the Department of Agrifood Production and Environmental Sciences (DISPAA) of University of Florence, Italy and Department of Biotechnology (BT), NIT Jalandhar. Both the two Institutions have the right to include other Departments as well in this existing MOU.” Following are the main activities that the MoU focuses on: faculty exchangestudent exchangeresearch collaborationsJoint applications for fundingother academic and research exchanges “The Institute has already some successful international collaborations and MoU with the University of Florence is a step towards this direction.Exchange visits of members of teaching and research staff of the units. Visits are intended to promote seminars, courses, conferences, lectures, workshops, to carry out joint research projects, to discuss experiences in fields of common interest,” he said.
