Student’s safety: All Delhi government schools to install CCTV cameras
The schools run by Delhi’s Government will soon be equipped by the CCTV cameras as the installation of the camera’s for the added safety of the children have been approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC). Delhi government’s message through the move is: Safety of school going children is the priority. Releasing the details about the project PWD minister Satyendar Jain boasted that the project will incur a cost of INR 597.51 crores and cameras will be installed in each classroom and open areas. As of now, Delhi Government owns 1028 schools in the state. Jain explained that once the installation process is complete, the contractor will grant the access to the parents which will allow them to see their child in real time in the school. The contractor will also provide an LED screen for the principal for the purpose of viewing the live feed. User ID and password for the parents "Parents will be provided user ID and password for the classroom of their child for viewing the video feed on their phone through a mobile app. The storage of video recording of each camera will be available for 30 days at school-level," the minister said. "High-speed Internet connection of appropriate bandwidth will also be provided to school through Internet service provider," the minister told reporters. The government has released the tender for the project and as of now, seven companies have come forward with their bids for the project. The project will be awarded only after the approval of the Cabinet. Further explaining the total cost of the project he said that execution cost of the project is INR 384.85 crores and additional 57.69 crores will support the maintenance of the project for the next five years.
