UK University’s new courses to offer a work permit to the students
If the changing visa policies around the globe have you worried about your dream of studying abroad then worry no more as these newly introduced courses by the University of Surrey can help you. The University has introduced five new PG courses in the commerce stream which can help you extend your stay in the UK as they promise to upgrade your study visa to work visa. The five new courses are -- MSc in Business Analytics, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Operations and Supply Chain in the Digital Era, and International Retail Marketing in the Digital Environment. All the courses are 15 months long as opposed to 12 months long. During the three additional months the students will be asked to work in the relevant industries and the University will upgrade their study visa to work visa. The new scheme replaces the old scheme of submitting the dissertations as a final project. Under the new scheme, instead of submitting a dissertation the students will be required to enroll in relevant jobs. “Placements can provide students with opportunity to apply the course information in relevant organizational context,” says Mark Barlow, director of student recruitment and admissions at the University of Surrey. “A senior teaching fellow and careers office of the University will help students in their placement search. To ensure that the placement is relevant to the course, the University will examine the offers and vet the learning outcomes of the placement module,” he adds. To offer the same, the University has also networked with 2300 companies to provide the placements. “Once an offer is secured, the University will sponsor a visa permitting work for the selected students,” Barlow says. If a student is unable to secure a placement or does not want to apply then h/she can revert back to the old 12-month M.Sc. course.
