Owing to the heavy snowfall in the Kashmir region, many students missed the on-going JKBOSE exams but, the need not worry as the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education will provide these students with another chance to re-appear for the exam. Deputy Commissioner of Bandipore district, Shahid Choudhary tweeted regarding the same, informing the board’s decision to the students. He said, “All students who missed exams due to heavy snowfall will get another opportunity once the weather improves. BOSE has agreed to our request. Same will apply to any further such incidents.” The board is conducting an annual regular 2018 winter zone Jammu division exam. According to the reports, this season’s first snowfall started on Saturday afternoon. An official from the MeT department said that this is the first time since 2009 that the area has witnessed a snowfall. “So rare is the occurrence that in the last two decades, it was only the fourth time that it has snowed in Srinagar in November with 2008 and 2004 being the earlier instances,” the official was quoted as saying by PTI. Due to the snowfall, the valley faced power outage and avalanches in some parts of Gurez in Bandipora district.
