Bihar board exams: Students expelled for cheating and impersonating
More than 432 students were caught cheating during the Bihar Board class 12 exams said, a Bihar School Education Board (BSEB) official who has the knowledge of the matter. Of the caught 432 students, 26 students were impersonators. For this year’s board exams, more than 13.5 lakh students had registered. The exams concluded on February 16 (Saturday). The cases of cheating and impersonation emerged despite the government taking strict measures against cheating and malpractices. Despite being conducted in the winter season, the board has restricted the students from wearing shoes and socks inside the exam hall and allowed students only with the slippers. The board has also prepared 10 sets of papers to prevent the leakage of the question papers. BSEB spokesperson, Rajiv Dubey said, “The board had expelled a total of 432 students from class 12 exams and proper actions as per rules will be taken against them. There were 26 impostors pretending to be a student and appearing the exam on someone else’ behalf. We have caught them and will make sure that strict actions, even FIR, if necessary will be filed against them.” A two-step checking procedure including frisking the students was also introduced by the board this year to prevent cheating during the exams and similar security procedures will be adopted by the board during the class 10th exam. Class 10th exams will commence on February 21 and conclude on February 28, 2019.
