Polytechnic students are eligible for admissions in B.Tech from 1st year
Students taking admissions in B.Tech are decreasing every year. One of the reasons is high unemployment among engineering students. Many are unemployed and others are under-employed. To prevent the complete fall of the Engineering streams All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has introduced some changes in the admission process of the polytechnic students into the engineering streams. From 2019, 10th pass polytechnic holders are eligible for admission in the first year of B.Tech. in any stream. Although, the option of lateral admission in the B.Tech. third semester will still remain open for the students but under this they can only take admission in the same branch that they studied in diploma. The new option will be effective from the new academic year which will commence in July, 2019 through Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP).
