First DIY ‘Artificial Intelligence’ kit developed by IIT-Delhi

First DIY ‘Artificial Intelligence’ kit developed by IIT-Delhi

CYRAN AI Solutions, IIT-Delhi’s deep tech startup has devised a do-it-yourself AI kit named BUDDHI (Build Understand Design Deploy Human-like Intelligence) which aligns perfectly with the syllabus prescribed by the CBSE in schools. Recently, CBSE has introduced AI as a subject in schools."A kit for the future!" tweeted Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State for HRD. He also congratulated the entire research team for their hard work and innovation. The BUDDHI kit is the brainchild of Professor Manan Suri of IIT Delhi. He was also recognized by MIT, USA as one of the world's top 35 innovators under the age bracket of 35 years. "Like any evolving technology, there exists a gap between the promise, the hype, the capability and practical reality of AI. What makes this gap wide is the lack of resources to easily develop an intuitive insight on topics such as AI at an early stage. The motivation behind BUDDHI kit is to help young school students learn the practical aspects of a complex topic like AI in a friendly and simple manner," said Professor Suri. The kit can be used by students, tinkerers, makers, innovators, hobbyists, teachers, educationists, artists, parents and professionals alike, no matter their background. The kit is highly interactive and can be used to learn the basics of AI very quickly without any prior domain knowledge.

NCDRC: Coaching institutes come under the jurisdiction of consumer court

NCDRC: Coaching institutes come under the jurisdiction of consumer court

Recently, the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has made it clear that educational institutions, except coaching institutes, will not fall under the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act.It has made clear that any deficiency in the services of the coaching institutes will fall under the jurisdiction of NCDRC as these institutes cannot be equated to regular schools and colleges. "Coaching centers cannot be equated to regular schools or colleges which are regulated by a Regulatory Authority... therefore, strictly speaking, coaching centers cannot fall within the definition of educational institutions. We are of the opinion that any defect or deficiency or unfair trade practice pertaining to a service provider like coaching centers does fall within the jurisdiction of the consumer fora," it said. The observation cam after some students filed petitions against different universities, colleges and educational institutes and the tribunal dismissed the petitions."It is clarified that even if there is any defect in services offered by private bodies in offering these courses ... do fall within the ambit of definition of educational institutions and hence the consumer fora have no jurisdiction to entertain the same," NCDRC bench of President R K Agrawal and members V K Jain and M Sreesha said.

All the students were awarded a degree in M.Sc. Software Technology instead of MS."The Commission has been, time and again, requesting the Universities to award degrees only within the framework of Section 22 of the UGC Act. The consolidated list of UGC approved nomenclature of degree(s) for the purpose of Section 22(3) of the University Grant Commission Act, 1956 is available on the UGC website," the circular said."It has been observed that some universities or institutions are awarding unspecified degrees leading to litigations and different problems for the students conferred with such degrees.
