Karnataka government to stop online classes till 7th standard

Karnataka government recently received suggestions from the cabinet ministers to put on hold online classes till seventh standard. On Wednesday, the state government decided to stop online classes for children from Kindergarten (KG) to Class 5. The classes were stopped as several complaints were received. Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said “yesterday the decision to put on hold online classes was made after receiving several complaints from parents, and holding discussions with experts in this regard”. He said that everyone is in favor that online classes cannot replace physical classes. "Two decisions have been taken-online classes for LKG, UKG and primary classes should be stopped immediately. Also, collecting fees in the name of online classes should be stopped immediately," the minister told reporters on Wednesday. In the meeting, discussions were also held regarding how to engage children during this period. He said that a committee has been constituted under the leadership of Prof M K Sridhar which will prepare guidelines on engaging the students and increasing their productivity. Parents have been pressuring the government to act as private schools were conducting online classes for the kindergarten kids.
