Online education: Syllabus for classes 1 to 12 to be delivered via TV
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Rotary – a social organization. Under MoU audio visual content will be created for classes 1 to 12 for the students across India. The content will be available via television and online platforms. The content will be developed based on the NCERT curriculum. The main aim is to provide content for the economically weaker sections which do not have any means to the internet. Earlier, may students had complained that most of the online content is in English. Under the MoU, modules will be telecasted for classes 1-12 through twelve national Television channels of NCERT. The modules will also be available through GOI’s national mobile app, DIKSHA. At the launch, the HRD Minister said that at the time of coronavirus it becomes our duty to protect our children and this initiative will help to keep them safe and on track. He also said that even if we have not reached to every children in India, the efforts of the ministry continues in this direction. Nishank also said “though NCERT books are available in 15 languages through Diksha and Swayam, which have emerged among the biggest online education portals, the ministry has collaborated with television networks and radio channels to reach out to students sitting in the remotest of corners of India.” HRD Minister also asked parents and teachers to send their suggestions regarding reducing the syllabus for the upcoming academic year.
