Assam to declare class 10th result on June 6

The Board of Secondary Education Assam, or SEBA, will declare class 10th results on June 6, said Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press conference. The results will be declared on official website -- resultsassam.nic.in from 9 am onwards. To check their results, candidates will require their login credentials such as roll number and registration number. The exams were held from February 10 to February 28 and more than 3 lakh students appeared for the exams this year. Earlier, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that digital marksheets will be given to the students. The decision was taken keeping in view the importance of social-distancing during COVID-19 pandemic. Hard copies of the mark sheets will be distributed later once the situation gets normal. The minister also announced that admission to the higher secondary institutes under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, or AHSEC will be done in online mode completely.

Kerala schools begin virtual classes for the students

Virtual classes for the students have begun by the Kerala government. The classes are being conducted through the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE)-Victers channel under the name 'First Bell'. Students can access the time-table from the official website -- https://victers.kite.kerala.gov.in/. An official in a statement said “For the first week at least 1.2 lakh laptops, over 7,000 projectors and nearly 4,545 televisions have been readied for the students”. "We have entrusted the class teachers and school headmasters or principals to make sure that students have access to a television or a smartphone or a computer, and internet for the classes. If not, they should find an alternative for the students to attend the online classes either in real time or later," Director of Public Instruction (DPI) K Jeevan Babu has said. Akshaya centers are being used as alternatives for the students to attend the classes. Other suggestions are to use television or internet facilities of neighbours, friends living nearby and libraries. The classes can be downloaded from the internet. This way, students who have missed the class can watch them later.

Students should not believe information coming from unauthentic source: DU

On Sunday, DU puts out a notice asking students “not to consider unauthentic sources” for information and rely only on DU official website for information. DU said that the notification was related to DU admissions for the academic session 2020-21. The tentative dates for undergraduate (UG), postgraduate(PG), Master of Philosophy (M.phil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) entrance exams and admissions have already been set by the University. Delhi University, in the official notification, said: “In this regard, all aspirant students of the University of Delhi are informed that the details of admission process and the schedule will be put up on the official website of University of Delhi. The applicants are advised not to use or consider any other unauthentic source of information.” The tentative dates had been circulated as part of the agenda papers for a meeting of the academic committee of the university’s Academic Council.” The University also announced that open book exams for UG and PG courses.

Maharashtra Exams: Marks will be awarded based on the previous years’ aggregate marks

On Sunday, Maharashtra CM said that aggregate marks from previous years will be used to award the marks in schools and colleges as present circumstances in the state are not viable for conducting the exam. The statement was issued after a meeting with heads of universities. VCs of the universities agreed that in present situation it too risky for the students to come together for exams. The Maharashtra Education Minister Uday Samant had announced on May 8 that all college and university, except for final year students, will be promoted without exams due to implausibility of conducting exams during the lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus. He has also written to the UGC asking for the permission to graduate final-year students without holding the exams. Uddhav Thackeray, through the official social media account of the Chief Minister’s Office, said: “We have decided that students will get aggregate marks based on their performance in the previous semesters for that academic year. This is because there is no clarity on when the exams can be held. The future of students should not be kept hanging because of this.” Mr. Thackeray also said that candidates will be given a chance to improve their performance in final year. The chance will be given in September, October, and November based on the situation. Mr. Thackeray also said that the government in in talk with the telecom companies for ‘offering data’ and is also pondering over various methods of e-learning. “We will talk to telecom companies for offering data. The use of mediums like television, radio, and e-learning can be explored. SD cards can be given to those who have laptops, mobiles and tabs for e-learning.”

HPBOSE class 12 Geography exam to be held on June 8

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) announced that the Class 12 Geography exam will be conducted on June 8 between 8.45 am to 12 pm. The board has instructed all candidates to reach the exam center half an hour before the commencement of exam. Earlier, exams for the remaining subjects such as Computer Science, Physical Science and Yoga were cancelled due to difficulty in conducting the exam due to lock down and to curb the spread of COVID-19. The marks will be given based on the marks scored by the students in compulsory papers. HPBOSE, in a notification, said: “It is informed that the Class 12 exam for all students will be held on June 8,2020, in all exam centers from 8.45 am to 12 pm. It is compulsory for all students as well as all staff to wear face masks for this examination.” Students have been instructed to reach the exam center half an hour early and proper social distancing measures will be followed during the exam. “Examinees should take their respective seats half an hour before the exams and the examinees will only be allowed to enter after they wash their hand using sanitizers or liquid handwash. Students will be seated with the proper social distancing measures in mind,” the board said.

ICAI allowed candidates to change their exam center

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, or ICAI, has announced that it will open the application correction window for the upcoming CA exams thereby allowing candidates to change their exam center only. According to the latest notification, the correction window will open from 11 am on June 7 to 11:59 pm on June 9 and candidates will be allowed only to change their exam center. The decision has been taken in view of COVID-19 pandemic. “There will be no change accepted in the already applied group or medium, either in exam form or through previous correction windows, for appearing in the Chartered Accountants Examinations scheduled in the month of July 2020 The online window for seeking the change of center will be made available at https://icaiexam.icai.org,” the notification by ICAI said. “Candidates are advised to take note of the above carefully and take advantage of this reopening of online facility being made available appropriately and stay in touch with the website of the Institute, www.icai.org for the latest announcements or updates,” the notification by ICAI added. According to the latest notification, exams will be held from July 29 to August 16.

Andhra Pradesh board announced 2020 exams

Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education has announced that the exam for the second-year intermediate students will be held in June. Along with the announcement of the exam, the board also announced a set of precautionary measures against COVID-19 during the exams. The exams for Modern Language 2, and Geography 2 for second year intermediate students will be held on June 3. The notification says, “The exam will be conducted in the same examination centers with the same hall tickets from 9 am to 12 noon, following all COVID-19 protocols including maintaining physical distance and sanitization.” The hall tickets can be downloaded from bie.ap.gov.in. According to the instructions, students will be required to wear the face mask compulsorily and maintain social distance from other students. While sneezing and coughing, students are required to use the handkerchief. “Students can bring their own sanitizer and water bottle,” says the notification. Exam halls must be sanitized before and after the exam. The notification says, “Ensure all the precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus and follow all the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.” The Board of Secondary Education Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP) has announced the Class 10 or Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination will be held from July 10 to 17.
