Of these 48 schools, 33 schools are primary and 15 schools are upper primary. According to the sources, the state government is now asking for the explanation from the district-level officials. Kamlesh Priyadarshi, senior expert, Management Information System, issued an order which states “During an analysis of the U-DISE report data that was sent by all districts for the 2017-18 academic session, it was found that various districts in Uttar Pradesh have zero enrollment of students.” The 33 primary schools with no students are in 16 districts - Amethi (1), Azamgarh (1), Baghpat (1), Ballia (3), Deoria (1), Farrukhabad (1), Fatehpur (1), Ghazipur (3), Gonda (1), Hathras (4), Jalaun (1), Jaunpur (6), Kanpur rural (2), Lakhimpur Kheri (5), Mathura (1) and Meerut (1). Meanwhile, 15 upper primary schools with zero enrolment are in seven districts - Azamgarh (1), Fatehpur (1), Ghazipur (1), Jaunpur (3), Lakhimpur Kheri (5), Meerut (2) and Mirzapur (2). “Hence, all these districts have been asked to provide details like the year of establishment of these schools, U-DISE code, number of enrolled students in 2016-17, number of teachers employed and the action taken by the basic shiksha adhikari against such schools,” read the order.
