JNU exams to be over by July 31

On Saturday, JNU released its academic calendar and said that the exams will be over by July 31. JNU VC said that the academic calendar was approved by all the deans of Schools and Chairpersons of Special Centers. "Tentatively, students are expected to return to JNU campus between June 25 to and 30 so that they can complete their remaining academic components and complete their examinations. Examinations will be completed by July 31," he said. The next semester will commence from August 1. In case the results are not available by July 31, students will still have the opportunity to provisionally register and move to the next semester. The entire registration process will be online making it easier for the students to register from their homes. The deadline for research scholars to submit their theses/dissertations has been extended to December 31. "This academic calendar is tentative at this time and depends on how the lockdown is lifted in stages across the country and what new guidelines we may receive from the UGC," the VC added.

CBSE board exam results expected in August

Class 10th and 12th exams will be evaluated by the teachers from their homes and for this purpose 3000 schools have been identified as exam centers which will shoulder the responsibility of delivering answer sheets to teachers, said Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank'. The announcement came after MHA gave node to resume the evaluation work. The answer sheets will be transported however, containment zones will remain an exception to this rule. The minister said that the move will facilitate delivery of 1.5 crore answer sheets of class 10th and 12th exams. "Three thousand CBSE-affiliated schools have been identified as assessment centers across India and special permission will be granted to these schools for the limited purpose of evaluation. Nearly 1.5 crore answer sheets of already conducted exams will be delivered at the evaluators homes and evaluation will begin tomorrow. We will be able to complete the process in 50 days," he added. As per the guidelines issued by MHA, 16 regional offices of CBSE can function without restriction in orange and green zones and with limited restrictions in red zones. As of now, the government has decided to hold the pending board exams from July 1 to July 15 as they are crucial for promotion and admission to higher educational institutions.

CBSE to announce new date sheet for the exams soon

The new date sheet for the remaining exams of class 10th and 12th will be released soon by the CBSE. The pending exams are expected to be conducted from July 1 to July 15. CBSE Secretary, Anurag Tripathi said “Date sheet for the rescheduled board's examinations shall be communicated by the board through its website and press release soon”. On Friday, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' announced that pending class 10th and 12th board exams will be held from July 1 to 15. "The students have been impatiently waiting for the schedule for pending exams. It has been decided today that the exams will be conducted from July 1 to 15," he said. Universities and schools were closed and exams were postponed when central government announced a countrywide classroom shutdown to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.

Class 10 students in Punjab to be promoted on pre-board basis

Punjab CM Amarinder Singh tweeted that the students of class 10th will be promoted to next class on the basis of their performance in pre-boards. For the class 12 exams, the Punjab government will follow the order of GOI. "Have decided to promote students of Class V & VIII to next classes as well as to promote class X students to next class on the basis of pre-board results. For Class XII examinations, we will follow Government of India's decision," he tweeted. Punjab board is the first state board to take a final decision regarding the exams of the class 10th students. While some state boards like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh Boards had concluded class 10 exams, other state boards had not had the same luck. Students across the nation are awaiting final decision regarding the board exams. Several schools have even started online classes for 11th class and students are confused regarding whether they should attend the classes or prepare for the board exams.

Decision on RBSE board exams after CBSE’s announcement

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that remaining class 10th and 12th exams will remain postpone and the final decision will be taken after CBSE announces its decision on the pending board exams. Mr. Gehlot said that RBSE will conduct board exams in accordance with the CBSE decision so that students appearing for the RBSE exam do not face any inconvenience. Meanwhile, HRD Ministry has asked the CBSE to conduct the remaining exams from July 1 to July 15. CBSE has to decide the exam dates on the basis of the schedule of the entrance exams to prevent any clash between the exams. This year’s NEET and JEE Mains have been postponed due to coronavirus outbreak. As per the new schedule, CBSE board exams, JEE Main and NEET will be held in July. The JEE Main will be held from July 18 to July 23 and the NEET will be held on July 26. CBSE said that it will release the new date sheet for the exams soon.

Maharashtra schools not to hike fee this year

Due to negative economic effects of the coronavirus lockdown, school in Maharashtra will not hike the fee for the academic year 2020-21. Maharashtra education department has directed schools not to hike the school fee for the new academic year. Maharashtra School Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad, on Twitter, said “action will be taken against schools which increase school fee this year. She also added that efforts are being made to reopen schools in the state from June 15.” Schools have also been directed not to demand the fee in one go from the parents. Parents will be given the option to pay the fee for year 2019-20 and 2020-21 in monthly or quarterly pay options. The government also directed the schools to provide online fee payment option to the parents. The order by the government is applicable to all primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools, irrespective of board. Maharashtra state board has also canceled the remaining class 10 papers and is expected to announce class 10 and class 12 examination results by June 10.

JNU said that students can return in the last week of June

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) said that students can expect to return to the campus between June 25 to 30. However, these dates are still tentative, the University further added. "This academic calendar is subject to change as per the developments related to COVID-19 pandemic and related guidance or instructions from the government, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) or UGC," it has said. The classes in the University were suspended on March 16 due to COVID-19 outbreak. The university will remain close until May 17. "The University shall remain closed till May 17. Students are required to stay back where they are and should not return to the campus until further notice," JNU had notified on May 3. Today, the university also released the academic calendar for the monsoon semester and provisional registrations for the existing students will be held from July 25 till July 31. “The monsoon semester classes will begin on August 1,” the university said. PhD students who could not submit their thesis due to corona virus lockdown can submit it until December 31.
