Delhi government directed a pvt. school to return INR 2 crore collected by it as extra fee



On Thursday, Delhi government had ordered Apeejay school, to return the extra fee that it had collected from the students during the financial year 2018-19. The government also rejected the proposal of the school to hike fee citing that there are multiple irregularities in the proposal presented by the school. Manish Sisodia, Delhi Education Minister, told media that the government audited the school’s finances after it received multiple complaints from the parents of the students regarding the fee hike. He said that school had no justified reasons to increase the fee of the students. The principal of the school said that she cannot comment on the allegations made by the government as she has not received the copy of the order. According to the government, the school had a net surplus of INT 30.85 crore and it was arrived by collecting the funds form the parents under several heads. This also include the alleged expenditure of the INR 10 crores which school used to purchase the commercial units in the name of the management society. According to the High Court’s order any capital expenditure cannot be the part of the school’s fee structure.
