Calcutta University moved to the online admission system

Calcutta University moved to the online admission system

In an attempt to conduct the admissions into the university under the fair admission process, Calcutta University has decided to conduct the admissions using the online admissions system from this academic year. The state government had issued a notice recently in which it asked all the state universities to conduct the admissions using the online admission system. According to this, all the admissions to the UG courses must be done on the basis of merit and no admission test should be conducted. “Acquiring an online admission process will help us maintain better records of candidates, and the programs they have applied to. Several top universities in the country welcomed online system, this move is a step ahead,” says a senior CU official. Starting from this year, applicants will not be required to visit any college until the commencement of the classes. The admission fee will only be paid through e-payments or at the designated banks. All document verification will take place after the commencement of the classes and if a student is found false then his admission will be terminated. This will help in putting an end to the alleged money laundering racket run by the students’ union which admit the students even when the seats are full.
