High Court ordered to submit the status report against the former KSOU VCs
The Karnataka HC had directed the state government to submit the status report on the investigation against the two former Vice-chancellors of the Mysuru-based Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). Their names have been indicated in the alleged illegalities in the recruitment process and financial transactions. The interim order was passed by the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka and Justice P.S. Dinesh Kumar on a petition filed by the Karnataka State Universities and Colleges Backward Classes and Minority Teachers’ Association, Mysuru. In the petition, the petitioner has sought direction to the State government to initiate proper criminal prosecution of K.S. Rangappa and M.G. Krishna, former KSOU vice-chancellors, and four professors. The role of Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department is also under question who had given an endorsement to the association’s representation stating that no further action is required as the complaint was already lodged with the Jayalakshmipuram police in Mysuru. The petition had claimed that the Chancellor and the State Government failed to initiate the action against the former vice-chancellors despite the reports which clearly states the illegalities.
