Former IITian arrested for running fake Make In India Scheme

Police arrested a former IITian (Postgraduate) and his brother for running a fake ‘Make in India’ website and scheme. On the website, the IITian has claimed that 2 crore youth will be given free laptops under the ‘Make in India’ scheme. The website even had the authentic ‘Make in India’ logo and the picture of the Prime Minister. Both arrested, the accused and his brother hails from a  small town named Nagor in Rajasthan and were identified as Rakesh Jhangid and Niranjan. On asking about the scheme Rakesh said that by making the website famous he wanted to earn money from the advertisement. He was also planning to misuse the data of the people who have registered on his website. DCP Rakesh told that after completing the education he was placed in a company in Hyderabad but he made wrong use of his skills and talent as he wanted to earn quick and easy money. The address of the fake website was -- modi_laptop.wishguruji.com. The website claimed that crores of youth will be given free laptops as a token of a celebration of BJP’s second win in the general elections. Cyber cell filed a case against the website on May 31. Upon investigation it was found that the website has more than 15 lakh visitors in a mere two-days time. The cyber cell tracked the main accused and his brother using the IP address of the website and arrested both of them with the help of the local police.
