Venkaiah Naidu insisted on cutting the syllabi for the school children in half

On Wednesday, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said that the syllabi for the school children in the nation should be halved and students should learn 50 percent in classrooms and the rest 50 percent should come from the playground. M Venkaiah Naidu said this when he was interacting with the students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The Vice President said that the exams should measure the capacity of children to question the things around them. He also urged the young students to never let their marks define them. “You are much more than the numbers on your report card,” he told the students. “Along with physical fitness, schools should also encourage other extracurricular activities,” an official release quoted the Vice President. “The syllabi for school children in the country should be halved and students should learn 50 per cent from their classrooms and the rest from playgrounds,” he said. He also said that Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has played an important role in shaping the education scenario of the nation since its inception in 1983.
