Dadra and Nagar Haveli soon to get medical college



The central government is all ready to set up a medical college in Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The main aim of the move is to improve the medical facilities available to the people of union territory. According to a press release, the decision was taken at a meeting of Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The medical college will set up in 2 years and will have the capacity of 150 students. The proposed project is expected to be functional by 2019-20 and expenditure will be incurred under the guidelines established by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The college will increase the availability of the doctors in the area and at the same will address their shortage and will also provide more medical opportunities to the students of the union territory. Especially, the students of the tribal areas will be benefited by the new medical college. According to an official release “health equity will be promoted by the provision of better services through improvement in the strength of doctors in the union territory”.
