Government is working to enable innovation and excellence among all the educational institutes: President

The country is going through some dramatic changes and decisions taken today will not only influence the immediate future but also, the century, said Ram Nath Kovind as he addressed the students on the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Karnatak Law Society and Raja Lakahamgouda Law College. “We have a young, talented population and an exciting economy brimming with opportunities. In the previous quarter, our GDP grew at 8.2 percent, which indicates our pace as well as our potential,” Kovind said. “With the fourth industrial revolution upon us, how we live and work is changing so are the aspirations of our young people,” he added. In this context, the President said that educational institutes must be capable of new innovations and quest for the excellence. He further said that this is also the topmost priority for the government and steps are being taken to upgrade the entire education system so that it can meet the contemporary needs. As a proof of his statement he said that graded autonomy has been granted to the select 60 top universities of the nation and 20 institutes have been granted ‘Institutes of Eminence’ tag which will help them reach best-in-class global standards. “Law is not a career, it is a calling. Much more than a means to earn a livelihood, it is a mechanism to assist the cause of justice to help the poorest and most unfortunate among us, and to build a society and nation defined by adherence to rules, norms and fairness,” he said.
