This academic year, students are free to study abroad if they do take NEET exam

Following the orders of the Delhi High Court, the Medical Council of India in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to grant the permission to study medicine abroad if students do not appear for the NEET exam. But, this is valid only for this academic year. In another scenario, if a candidate appeared for the NEET exam and could not clear it then he/she will not be granted the permission to study abroad. According to the official notification, only the students full-filling the below-mentioned conditions will be eligible to study abroad: They shall submit an undertaking that they had not registered or not appearing for the NEET exam. They should obtain an eligibility certificate from the council prior to admission or joining the foreign medical institutes. The council at its discretion can verify from the CBSE whether the undertaking submitted by the candidate is genuine or fake. In case undertaking is found to be false, appropriate action will be taken against the candidate. On March 8, the MCI had mentioned in a notice that NEET is compulsory for the students who wish to study medicine abroad and the result of the entrance exam will be treated as eligibility certificate.
