JEE Mains results declared; Students upset over the NTA selection process
The National Testing Agency has announced the results of the Joint Entrance Exam held in April 2019. The results are available on the official portal of the JEE mains -- jeemain.nic. Students are however in shock after the declaration of the results as the qualifying percentile for this year’s exam is 89. Last year the qualifying percentile was 74. "The qualifying percentile for JEE Advanced is 89. Earlier, average qualifying percentile was 74, therefore students were not expecting it to go above 80, " says Alia Mirza, an aspirant who qualified JEE Mains. Those who have cleared the JEE Mains can now fill the form for the JEE Advanced between May 3 and May 9, 2019. After the declaration of the results of the JEE Advanced, students would head for the counseling from various institutes. Students are upset with the results as with the increase in the qualifying percentile the overall ranks have been dipped. Some of the tweets from the angry students are below: Students are upset because under the CBSE students had to appear only for single mains exam but under the NTA students appeared for the two mains exam. First JEE Mains was held in January and the second edition was held in April. "This year there were two different exams in multiple sitting. Also, the difficulty level varied from exam-to-exam," Mirza says.
