CBSE decided to make Arts a compulsory subjects for all the classes
In an attempt to promote active and experiential learning and to help students know and appreciate vast forms of India art, CBSE has decided to integrate Arts with the teaching and learning process of all classes from 1 to 12 starting this new academic session.From the new academic session, arts will be taught as a mandatory subjects to the students of all classes and the board has asked all the schools to provide facilities for the same and has asked schools to reserve two periods minimum per week for all the classes for Art education. "One universally accepted manner of making learning joyful and innovative is art integrated learning. Aesthetic sensibility and experience are the prime sites of the growing child's creativity. Art Integrated learning makes classroom transactions joyful and creative and also promotes the appreciation of our rich art and cultural heritage," the statement said. "However, it must be understood that though Art Education and Art Integrated Education may be considered as mutually exclusive, but Art Education is a necessary precursor for the adoption of Art Integrated learning," the statement added.The Board also said that it had discussed the matter with the stakeholders such as schools, principals, teachers, NCERT, art professionals and it was decided that the integration of Art is necessary for improved learning in the classrooms among the children.
