Healthcare is not a standalone discipline and needs an interdisciplinary approach



The Indian healthcare sector is one of the most complex systems in the world and needs an interdisciplinary approach to handle its complex demands and issues, said Prabal Chakraborty, vice president and managing director of Boston Scientific India. He speaking at the SYMHEALTH 2019 conference.Elaborating, Chakraborty said, "The increase in the number of legal cases in healthcare sector has underlined the importance of having a strong legal and compliance team to face such type of legal issues." Educationist Vidya Yeravdekar of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) said, "Doctors start their own clinics/hospitals and becomes the entrepreneurs, but to become a successful entrepreneur a doctor should have good communications skills besides having knowledge of human resource and finance. But unfortunately such type of skills are never taught to the medical students in their curriculum so an interdisciplinary education method needs to be implemented in the academics of healthcare." "SYMHEALTH 2019 has witnessed the presence of organizations, exhibitors and visitors from around the nation generating synergies, sharing knowledge, provoking discussion, reflection and inspiring new actions," said health expert Rajiv Yeravdekar of SIU.
