Students of government and private schools in Punjab to learn jointly

The state education department of Punjab has come up with a new scheme under which students from private and government schools of Punjab will be able to learn jointly under one roof. Under the new scheme, students of government schools will visit private schools for one day while on another day students from private schools will visit government schools for one day. Students of the private schools will also be required to eat the mid-day meal at the government schools when they visit the school for one day under the new scheme which is named as ‘twinning of schools’ program. Under the program, 10 students from the middle classes i.e. 6th, 7th and 8th classes will spend one day at each other’s school and will share the best practices of their respective schools. The scheme will be implemented across the state and notification regarding the same has been issued by the Director General of school education, Mohammad Tayyab. Besides sharing and learning from each other, students will also be able to discuss their areas of interests such as local craft, art and music, and the festivals. All the private, CBSE and ICSE affiliated school will be required to participate in the ‘twinning of schools’ program. “One day the students of government schools will visit the private schools while on another day the private school students will visit the government schools in order to exchange ideas. Strict directions have been issued to the schools to make well and proper arrangements for the mid-day meals that will also be consumed by private schools.
