IIT Hyderabad soon to open its Drone Development Center

In a bid to speed up the process of drone development of India, Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad has signed a pact with the Japan-based Terra Drone Corporation, Terra Drone India under which the institute will open the first-of-its-kind Center for Excellence for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs) in India.The center for the drone development will be set up at the IIT Hyderabad."We are creating a unique educational ecosystem that combines interactive learning with cutting-edge research, strong industry collaboration and entrepreneurship," said Dr. UB Desai, Director, IIT Hyderabad. "We are excited about developing drone-based solutions for domains like 5G communication, agriculture, transportation and Artificial Intelligence (AI),” said Desai. The company is present in more than 20 countries and is the largest solution provider in the field of Industrial drone solutions. The company has also a played major role in several innovations in the aviation industry such as promoting the use of AI in drones and providing advisory services to the ongoing flying car project in Japan."As the world's fastest-growing major economy, the potential for commercial drone market in India is huge," noted Toru Tokushige, CEO, Terra Drone Corporation."The UAV ecosystem in India is rapidly evolving and drones are set to become an integral part of future working environments in several industries," said Prateek Srivastava, CEO, Terra Drone India.The company will also provide internship opportunities in India and will prepare the students for the real-time applications of the technology.
