Aadhaar card not necessary for admission in Lucknow University

The Lucknow University has amended its guidelines which made Aadhaar number mandatory for the candidates filling the online admission form of the University. A press note issued by the varsityʼs Director (PR) Prof NK Pandey said, “Aadhar card is not compulsory in the online application process of University of Lucknow. Inadvertently, there was an oversight in the admission form filling guidelines regarding this and this error has been corrected.” He further said that university will reject no application form for not filling the Aadhaar number. In March 2018, the supreme court has also put an interim stay on making Aadhaar card mandatory for filling up the application forms for various competitive exams. In April, the Lucknow University made Aadhaar card or its enrollment number a mandatory requirement for filling the application form.
