SSC paper leak 2017 | CBI registered FIR and raided several locations



An official, on Wednesday, told that CBI has registered an FIR in the SSC 2017 exam paper leak row and also conducted raids on multiple locations across the country. SSC Tier 2 exam was conducted in the month of February and it was alleged that tier 2 paper was leaked. CBI, on Wednesday, conducted raids on 12 locations, which also included the offices of the SIFY Technologies. SIFY is a company who was contracted by the SSC to conduct the Tier 2 exam in Noida. A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official said that "the decision was taken after the investigators found enough material in the matter". A preliminary inquiry was conducted by the agency in the month of March after they received enough evidence from the Central Government related to the matter. The CBI enquiry into the matter was recommended by the SSC. SSC conducts the exams to recruit the personnel for the subordinate services. Tier 2 exams were conducted by the SSC from Feb 17 to 22. After the news of the paper leak spread, there were protests by the students against the SSC. After the probe was ordered, SSC decided not to declare the results till the probe was over. Immediately after the spread of the news about the alleged scam, many students gathered to stage a protest outside SSC office at CGO complex in national capital. More than 30 lakh students had registered for the SSC CGL exam, which was conducted to fill about 8000 vacancies in 35 different ministries. Of the registered students, nearly 15 lakh students appeared for the Tier ! exam of which only 1.89 lakh candidates were shortlisted for the Tier 2 exam.
