PSEB class 12 results declared; devolved pass percentage despite the grace marks

On Monday, the Punjab School of Education Board (PSEB) declared class 12 results. The results are far from satisfactory as even after giving students 5 marks in grace (who were on the passing borderline) the pass percentage in maths is subpar as compared to last year’s. Math is not the only issue as nearly 46,000 students have also flunked in English subject, however the pass percentage in English is on the rise as compared to the last year’s. Chemistry is yet another subject whose pass percentage is disappointing with only 69.43 percent of the students passing the exam. The pass percentage in the English has risen to 84.32 percent from 75.53 percent from the last year. With 13,285 students failing in Math the pass percentage is dipped from 86 percent last year to 75.75 percent this year. The pass percentage on the physics and biology is 71.26% and 77.77% respectively. 96 percent students cleared the general Punjabi whereas 83.17 percent of the students cleared the Punjabi (elective). Economics, Political Science, and Hindi have a pass percentage of 87.54, 80.50 and 91.12 respectively.
