CBSE to give awards to the meritorious teachers



This year, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has increased the number of awards given to teachers to 48. The board has been awarding meritorious teachers since 2000. Till last year, the award was given only to 34 meritorious teachers. The awards to the teachers are presented on Teacher’s Day and from this year, the board has also revised the guidelines for the same. Distribution of awards Primary teachers - 10 awardsSecondary teachers - 9 awardsScience teachers (class 12) - 3 awardsMaths teacher (Senior Secondary level) - 1 award 10 separate awards have also been reserved by the CBSE for the Special Educators (from all categories), Performing Arts (Music/ Dance) teacher, Physical Education Teacher, Best Trainer, School Counselor and IT Teacher. According to the new guidelines, retires teachers are no longer eligible for the awards and teachers with a minimum of 10 years of experience are eligible to apply. CBSE has also asked the teachers to provide with the actual videos of classroom teachings via YouTube links. The duration of each video should be 30 minutes.
