Prakash Javadekar urges state government’s to prioritize the implementation of the various Educational schemes



In a recent video conference with the State Education Ministers and Secretaries, HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar, urged all the state governments to give special attention to the schemes under RUSA and Samagra Shiksha and fast track their implementation in the 117 districts. He emphasized that implementing these schemes soon will help in improving the quality of education and infrastructure. Listing out various projects and project-specific funding available under RUSA for expansion and setting up of higher education institutions in aspirational districts, Mr. Javadekar said, "A lot will depend on the State Government for the speedy implementation of the projects in Aspirational Districts." He informed that INR 1700 crores have been allocated for Aspirational districts and this amount will be used for: setting up 70 New Model Collegesupgrading 29 existing degree colleges to Model Degree Collegesstrengthening infrastructural facilities through new constructionupgrading/renovating and purchase of equipmentconstructing/upgrading hostels, laboratories, libraries, etc. The funds will also be used for setting up 7 new professional colleges in the Engineering and Management fields and will also be used to issue infrastructure grants to 188 colleges and 9 Universities. He also told that a separate amount of INR 5 crore has also been approved to improve the standard of higher education with the special focus on the females, SC/ST and educationally backward communities. The government has also made allocations which will be used to improve the following issues in the schools: Building separate toilets for the girlsProvide drinking waters to the school childrenMaintain cleanliness in schools The funds have already been allocated by the central government and has authorized the Panchayati Raj institutions to start the work by prioritizing the above-mentioned issues of the schools. "I request the state governments to ensure that there is proper coordination at the Panchayati Raj level," he said.
