87% of engineering seats are still vacant after 2 rounds of TNEA 2019 counseling



According to a report from Times of India, 87 percent of the UG seats in engineering and technological courses in Tamil Nadu remains vacant after 2 rounds of TNEA 2019 counseling. According to an official from All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) four engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu have already opted for the progressive closure. According to another report by Indian Express, till July 18, the last day of the second round of seat allotment under the TNEA, only 21 thousand seats have been filled out of total 1.66 lakh seats available. The report further said that only 27 out of 494 colleges in the state were able to fill more than 50 percent of the sanctioned intake. With the speed, the things are progressing it is estimated that only 36 percent of the total available seats will be filled Tamil Nadu engineering colleges. The third round of the TNEA counseling began on July 21 and the final allotment result for this round will be released on Tuesday, July 23. Candidates with ranks up to 64,093 are allowed for the TNEA 2019 third round counseling. Round 4 of the counseling will commence from July 23 and candidates with ranks up to 1,01,692 will be allowed to appear in this round.
