NET answer key released; NTA opens the window for raising objections
The national testing agency has released the official answer key for the National Eligibility Test which was held from June 20 to June 26. Candidates who had appeared for the NET exam can now visit the official website of the NTA and download the answer key and can also challenge the same until July 3. For each questioned challenged, candidates will be required to pay an online amount of INR 1000. If the challenge is found correct then the fee will be refunded. The response sheets and question paper of the NET exam were released on June 28. After receiving all the challenges and evaluating them, NTA will release the final answer key. "The NTA decision on the challenges shall be final and the result will be declared on the basis of final answer keys," said the agency. As far as NET results are concerned, there will be no re-checking and re-valuation of the results. The results will be declared on July 15 and will be hosted on the official website of the NTA. The number of candidates required to be qualified is 6 percent of the total candidates which appeared in both exams of the NET. The NET exam consisted of two papers. Paper 1 had 50 questions focusing primarily on teaching and research aptitude, general awareness and knowledge etc. and paper 2 had 100 questions which were subject-specific. The composite time given to complete both the papers was 3 hours.
