CBSE board exam fee hike: Delhi government to bear the increased expenditure

Providing major relief to the students of Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced that the students studying in Delhi government schools and aided schools will not have to bear the increased expenditure of the CBSE board exam fee as city’s government will bear the expenditure for the same. The decision was taken by the Delhi Government after CBSE decided to hike the board exam fee by 200 percent. Mr. Sisodia also said that the Delhi government is in talks with the board to roll back the fee hike decision. Amid the protests from the affected students and parents, CBSE later announced that the fee hike will not be applicable to the SC/ST students studying the government schools of Delhi. The increased amount will be borne by the government. Students in Delhi government schools and aided schools will not have to pay any fees for CBSE Class 10, 12 exams. Delhi government will bear the entire cost for all categories of students, modalities being worked out," Sisodia told PTI. "Delhi government is in process of discussing with CBSE to roll back the fee hike. Irrespective of what happens, no child will have to bear the burden of registration fees as the government will bear that," he added. A few days earlier, CBSE had notified increase in the examination fee for the class 10th and 12th exams and registration fee for the classes 9th and 11th . The board also increased the migration fee. Justifying the fee hike CBSE said that in conducting the board exams CBSE had to borne the deficit of INR 200 crores which forced the organization to increase the fee for the exams and registrations.
