India won its first Gold in WorldSkills competition



In the recently concluded WorldSkills competition in Russia's Kazan, India has bagged five medals which includes a gold medal as well. Among all the participating countries, India finished at 13th position.WorldSkills competition is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world and this is the first time India has won the gold medal. There were around 6300 competitors from 63 countries.The gold medal was won by Aswatha Narayan Sanagavarapu from Odisha in Water Technology category. He was also awarded ‘Best of Nation’ among all the competitors from India. He competed against the participants from the 11 countries.India also bagged one silver and two bronze medals. Pranav Udayarak Nutalapati from Karnataka won the silver medal in Web Technologies category and Shweta Ratanpura from Maharashtra and Sanjay Pramanik from West Bengal won bronze medals in Graphic Design and Jewellery, respectively.
