NTA to conduct CSIR NET as a computer-based test



With NTA taking the charge of CSIR NET exam there are bound to be some changes. The exam is scheduled in December, and the official notification for the same will be released soon. CSIR UGC NET is conducted to determine the eligibility of the candidates for Lectureship and for awarding the Junior Research Fellowship in Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences. The exam is scheduled for December 15, 2019, and the application process for the same will commence from September 9, 2019. The last date to register for the exam is October 9, 2019. NTA has announced that the exam will no longer be held in pen-paper mode but will be computers. NTA has yet to release all the important information about the exam such as duration of exam, structural changes in the pattern of exam and other important information. Until June 2019 exam, the exam was conducted for one MCQ paper which was divided into three separate parts. Part A had only 20 questions from general aptitude and candidates were required to answer only 15 to pass part A. UGC NET used to have a similar structure but when the exam was passed to NTA, NTA reduced the number of questions from 60 to 50 in part A and made all the questions compulsory. UGC NET also used to have two subject-specific paper but NTA discontinued the practice and now there is only one subject-specific paper. Candidates can expect similar structural changes in the CSIS UGC NET exam.
