Delhi government in discussions with CBSE to roll back the fee hike
On Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced that students studying the Delhi government and aided schools will not have to pay the increased fee as the expenditure will be borne by the Delhi government. Delhi government took the decision after Central Board of Secondary Education announced a fee hike. Sisodia further said that the government is in discussions with the CBSE to roll back the fee hike. "Students in Delhi government schools and aided schools will not have to pay any fees for CBSE Class 10, 12 exams. Delhi government will bear entire cost for all categories of students, modalities being worked out," Sisodia told PTI on the sidelines of an event. "Delhi government is in process of discussing with CBSE to roll back the fee hike. Irrespective of what happens, no child will have to bear the burden of registration fees as the government will bear that," he added.The hike in examination fee for class 10th and 12th and in registration fee for class 9th and 11th was announced by the CBSE during the last week.Recent measures taken by the board to make the exams cheating free have put financial burden on the board. Also, the passing of the responsibility of exams such as JEE and NEET to the NTA has also left the board in fund crunch, told the board officials.
