CBSE faces criticism for increasing the board exam fee

CBSE faces criticism for increasing the board exam fee

The registration fee for the board exams has been increased by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The registration for class 10 is done when a student is in class 9 and for class 12 exams is done when the students are in class 12. This year, the board has started the registration process a bit earlier so that sufficient time can be given to complete the process. CBSE however, has hiked the registration fee not by Rs. 10 or 20 but directly by 200%. This means that registration fee is double what it used to be. Earlier, the registration fee was INR 150 for the students studying in schools in India and INR 250 for the students studying in schools abroad. Now with the increase, the new registration fee for the students from Indian school is INR 300 and for the students from schools abroad is INR 500. The last date to complete the registration formalities is October 15, 2019 without the late fee. In case students miss the last date they can still register for the exams from October 16 to October 31, 2019 by paying an additional late fee of INR 2000. Students can offer minimum of 5 or more subjects. The official subject combination allowed is available on the official website of the board. For the 2021 exam, the official registration process began from August 8, 2019.
