25 Srinagar Government schools to be turned into modern schools
The administration has chosen 25 state-government run schools in Srinagar which will be equipped with modern infrastructure and facilities to provide a better learning environment to the children, an official said.Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said that the main aim of the administration is to transform the government schools into competitive learning institutes. "The process starts with developing 25 pilot schools on modern lines, refurbishing entire school buildings, equipping them with modern infrastructure and revamping their academic structure aimed at improving their learning outcomes," he said. The 25 schools were selected out of a total of 52 government schools based on various parameters such as land and building availability and student roll and staff strength, Choudhary added. The deputy commissioner also told that the funds for the modernization of the schools have been released. “The schools will be refurbished or rebuilt on a mission mode. These pilot schools will be autonomous in their functioning and will have complete decision-making powers aimed at facilitating achievement of goals of excellence,” Choudhary said. The main aim of the project with these schools is to rebuild the public education system stronger than ever and to replicate the success model across the district’s other schools.
