Rajasthan Government launched a state-wide project to reduce the weight of the school bags



On Wednesday, Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara launched a state-wide project which aims at reducing the weight of the school bags of the children. Addressing a gathering at the Government Higher Secondary School in Vatika area, Dotasara said, the weight of the textbooks have been reduced by the two-third.He further added that students will now have to carry a single textbook for the subject instead of multiple books. He also said that Rajasthan is the first state in the country which has taken the initiative to reduce the burden of heavy bags. He also distributed new books to the children.He said that the weight of the old school books of children studying in class one was 900 grams which now has been reduced to 400 grams.He said that the project was started by the government on a pilot basis by selecting one school from each district (33) of the state and under the project, the two-third weight of the school bags have been reduced.The state government is constantly reviewing the outcome of the project and if the results remain positive the same will be implemented in the entire state from classes one to 12, he added.
