UP to add AI to the secondary school exam system to prevent the use of malpractices

The UP government is mulling over the idea of adding AI bots to the secondary school examination system to make the exam free from any kind of malpractices.In this direction, CBSE has already partnered with Microsoft Technologies to conduct capacity building program for the high school teachers and train them in Artificial Intelligence.CBSE has decided to add AI and Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE) as skill subjects in the school curriculum and UP government seems to be following the same path.State Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma did not disclose any details about the program and said that things will be disclosed at the appropriate time."Things are still in the planning stage and we are trying to ensure implementation of the program for the 2020 board examinations," the one of the official from the education department said.AI-bots will help in tracking the performance of the students based on their past performance and it will also help in tracking the proxy invigilators."The main problem with the Uttar Pradesh board examinations is the shortage of teachers and the inability to maintain the standard of teaching. In this scenario, when teaching is inadequate, the students, as well as teachers, resort to unfair means during examinations," the official said.Earlier, this year the state government took several strict measures to keep a check on cheating and other malpractices during the board exams and as a result around 10 lakh students did not appear in the board exams.
