IBM to prepare CBSE’s AI curriculum
Earlier, CBSE had announced that students from classes 9-12 will have an option of choosing AI as an elective subject. The curriculum for the same is now being developed from scratch by a team from IBM India along with the help from the members of its global team. Before finalizing the curriculum, IBM will conduct a pilot project in 1000 schools in Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad and Chennai and the finalized curriculum will be added in CBSE’s curriculum next academic year. The pilot project will be launched in Delhi on Wednesday. The project will start with creating awareness among schools’ principals regarding the subject and providing the foundational training to the teachers. Students will undergo five stages of training which are: Research-informed readingsCustomized online resourcesHands-on projects The curriculum will also include Capstone Project where IBM experts will mentor the students for an advance prototype which will make the foundations of the students regarding the subject stronger."Unlike creating a curriculum for professionals, introducing the subject to schoolchildren is different. We have a chance to create a course to give the best effect by using a design-based approach to problem-solving with AI. The program intends to develop a professional learning community for teachers in partnership with the industry. We will ensure it provides collaborative global project opportunities for students and recognize learning achievements through badging and accreditation," Gaurav Sharma, vice-president, India Software Labs, IBM, said.
