CBSE suggested Read-A-Thon to celebrate Reading Week



To celebrate the reading week, CBSE has suggested organizing Read-a-Thon, reading clubs, and Litfest as some of the options to all the schools affiliated to it. The Reading Week will begin on September 9 and end on September 15. The mains aim of the CBSE behind the suggestions is to promote reading skills among students of all classes.The board has emphasized on the need for individualized reading and its importance among school-going children of all ages.The board has taken similar steps in the past such as in 2011, it circulated the list of Indian authors and their books as a suggested reading material for the students studying in classes 5 to 12."The activities carried out by students during the Reading Week can be assessed as part of the Subject Enrichment Activities for classes up to Secondary level," says CBSE.The board has also suggested creating class libraries. The board has also suggested some other activities such as inviting authors to a deliver lecture during the reading session, organizing debate around their favourite character in the book organizing play based on the book.
